Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry, but for many of us this is the most stressful time of year. Women tend to take on too much and find themselves drowning in stress and anxiety moving from one major festivity to another.
Santa doesn’t hold a candle to our list making, cookie baking and gift-wrapping.
Here are 10 tips to help you get through all the jolly good fun.
Don’t skip regular meals. For many of us, we want to wait to eat until we get to the party. This actually makes you eat more not less. So don’t skip meals and snacks.
Keep you exercise routine. With everything else going on, this is the first thing to go. Not only will keeping with your regular workouts help you keep your weight under control, it will help keep you stress under control.
SLEEP! Late nights seem to come with the Christmas territory but getting to bed on time will keep you more balanced and ready to handle a more energetic schedule.
Manage your TO DO list. Not everything is going to get done, come to peace with that and mark a couple of things off your list. We like to call this tactic – bless and release. It feels good, give it a try.
Limit your party hopping. So many parties so little time! Pick the parties that mean the most and send regrets to the rest. It’s okay, you can’t be everywhere and get the baking and shopping done too.
Hydrate. Drink plenty of water.
Breathe. I know, you are doing this anyway BUT stop and take 5 deeps breaths.
Get some sunlight. This is hard to do with the shorter days and colder weather but a bit of sun will do your mood wonders. Let Jack Frost nip at your nose for a few minutes.
Laugh Out Loud. It is amazing how funny some things can be. (In-laws, layaway lines, customer service glitches, so on and so on)
10. ENJOY – At every step of the way, make the choice to take a minute and just enjoy being where you are whether you’re baking cookies, at a family gathering or wrapping gifts. Take a minute and enjoy it.
